It's still 18 months away, and we have a magnitude difference in distractions today than we did back then. What is less promising seems to be the lack of USG focus; the America 250 commission was mired in controversy, if I remember, and has not yet done much. Trump said he will make the 250th a priority, including a new White House-level commission, so we may see some more focus going forward. But, Gallup reporting the lowest level of pride in America since they've started polling, there definitely seems to be gravity dragging down interest.
